Dude, where’s my start button?  By now, you know that there isn’t a start button in Windows 8, and to shut your computer down, you generally had to click the Start button and go from there in previous versions of Windows.  Because it’s not always advisable to press the power button on your computer to shut it down, you may find these steps a little easier to get you there:

1.  First, you want to go ahead and save or close any apps that you’re working on.

2.   If you’re using a mouse, move the pointer over the lower right corner of the screen and click the Settings charm then click Power.

3.  Click Shut down.  You can also select other options such as Update and Restart, Sleep, etc.
