To set up Outlook Express 5 on the Macintosh, follow these steps:

  1. Click either MacBinary or BinHex next to English (or other language you want to use in Outlook). Download the file.
  2. After the file downloads, double-click the Outlook Express 5.smi icon and follow the installation instructions.
  3. Click Tools, then Accounts.
  4. Click the New icon on the top left.
  5. Select IMAP from the Account Type drop-down list.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Type a name in the Account Name field that identifies the account for you.
  8. Type your name as you want your email recipients to see it.
  9. Type your email address, such as username@yourISP.com . (where username is the login name assigned to you, and yourISP.com is the domain name of your Internet Service Provider)
  10. Type your account ID, which is the first part of your email address. If your address is username@24hoursupport.com, for example, your account ID would be username.
  11. Type the server name, which is smtp.yourISP.domain-type, such as smtp.yourISP.com. (where yourISP.com is the domain name of your Internet Service Provider)
  12. Click OK.
  13. Close the Accounts window.
  14. In the Outlook Express 5 window, click on the account you named in step 8.
  15. Type your password.
  16. Click OK. Your email downloads from the server.
  17. Click on the inbox.
  18. Click on a message to display it in the current window, or double-click it to display the message in a different window.
